Scratch Competition Winner

“The most fun part about the competition was coding…” – this is what Jason said when asked about what he enjoyed the most in the  International Scratch Competition.

We recently had the chance to interview our champion participant in the Scratch Contest- Jason Edgard Marley, who was awarded the Judges’ Favorite Award in the recent Scratch competition where he surpassed our expectations by building a game based on his favorite game- soccer. He is no doubt relentless and extremely confident about his work which was evident throughout the interview.

He also told us that his favorite block in coding is the infinite loop as it’s quite a popular and common tool in scratch. He told us that he prefers working in a team as it gets him more ideas and keeps him motivated to finish the project effectively. He also mentioned that his mother and teacher helped him while project completion and one new thing he learnt was how to make smooth movements within the game to make it more interactive. He aspires to become  a game developer. He also shared a piece of advice for children planning to begin with Scratch. His father told us that using scratch made him happy. He also said that it’s not just about coding but kids building their own digital presence.It obviously portrays his awareness about the technological needs in the present scenario. Clearly, what stood out was his refusal to give up which made his way to winning this competition.

We also talked to his teacher- Rony Idinawaty who told us that Jason is always filled with ideas and is confident and persistent about them.It indeed showcased his persistent and diligent attitude to the competitive environment. She said that competitions like these help children learn important life skills such as problem solving and critical thinking.

This contest indeed helped him pave his way to becoming a confident and impactful coder. We wish him luck for all his future endeavors.
